Living in Wagoner
Through all perceptions we look as if we are a small town, but we are a growing small town located in Eastern Oklahoma. We have an abundance of water, improved infrastructure, breat businesses, awesome schools, agriculture, ranching, major highways, airport, railroad, river canal, lakes and streams, trees, rolling hills, and a strong belief in God. What more could you ask for?
People can come here and thrive! The city itself is a typical small town except for the great people who live here. Wagoner prides itself on being a community that creates an environment, where it will be there to help whenever the need arises. This is what continues to set us apart from the other communities!
Wagoner has many activities for families. Church is a very important center for many as well as school and community activities and the Wagoner Public Library.
At a time when more and more people are reaching retirement age, Wagoner is a great place to retire. We have a hospital with dedicated physicians and staff. We are within driving distance of 50 miles or less to Muskogee, Tulsa, Pryor, and Tahlequah. We have great city services including fire, ambulance and police protection. We have a very reasonable cost-of-living. There is a Senior Citizen Group that has numerous activities.
It is a place where people spend summer days fishing and enjoying the nearby lake. Ft. Gibson Lake is a draw to our area with many water sports available. Wagoner has many outstanding fisherman, including professional fisherman, Tommy Biffle.
It is a town that honors its military veterans. We have not forgotten the price paid - for our FREEDOM!
An old Danish proverb says, "Age may wrinkle the face, but lack of enthusiasm wrinkles the soul."
That proverb sums up the changes we're making in Wagoner. Instead of wrinkled souls - regardless of our age - we want newcomers to notice a vibrancy that springs from the way we experience life to the fullest. In other words, we want our enthusiasm to shine. Wagoner is a great place to live, work, and visit! Come to Wagoner - your wrinkles will only be laugh lines!
