About The Canebrake

The Canebrake is an eco-friendly fine dining restaurant and resort with luxury rooms and suites, a conference center, ropes course, hiking trails and yoga barn. We host corporate retreats, weekend getaways, weekly live music and monthly events and tastings. Located on 400 acres surrounded by Ft. Gibson Lake, yet just 45 minutes from Tulsa.

The Canebrake is a restaurant, resort, yoga barn, ropes course, and conference center with hiking trails, fishing ponds, rolling meadows, native woods and is on a point surrounded by Ft. Gibson Lake. We have nightly dinner features, weekly live music and monthly events like yoga retreats and wine dinners.
What's a Canebrake, you ask? Now a rarity due to development and agriculture, Arundinaria Gigantea was once prolific in this region of the country; eastern Oklahoma and Texas, western Arkansas and Louisiana. A species of bamboo that is native to the US, the reed of the bamboo was used by Native Americans for making baskets, blowguns and flutes. A canebrake also acted as a filtering system for water; on the downstream-side of the canebrake, the water was calm, clear and clean; much the way you will feel after you stay with us.

You will love frequenting the Canebrake kitchen for its warm, relaxed atmosphere and the fantastic menu created by Chef Sam Bracken. Selections include wholesome dishes influenced by flavors from around the globe. Natural beef, whole grains and, of course, divine desserts comprise our seasonal, revolving menu.

The 65-seat restaurant features a dining bar that overlooks the open kitchen and provides a perfect venue for cooking classes, wine dinners and demonstrations. A wall of glass windows looks out onto a beautiful curved patio with a large central fountain and seating for 40.

Rooms and Suites are luxurious, but comfortable. They keep with our contemporary Southwestern theme without being too “woodsy,” even though they are surrounded by dense forest and rolling meadows. We have a variety of rooms ranging from singles to king suites with the ability to accommodate up to 40 adults.
